Discovery

Today in discovery we are hoping to finish our poster board and get it ready for presenting.

We have all the information needed but now we need to put transfer it onto our poster board.

for discovery today, my group finished off researching about human evolution and started our draft phase of what physical display we want to make. next time we need to gather our materials for the display and start putting our info on it.

This week for discovery we decided to learn about human evolution.

Right now we are planning what we will research and what order it will be in.
next week we will also research and then start creating a presentation to present it.

For English today I have been working on film techniques and establishing shots.

the main shots i was looking into and putting on my slide were the reaction shots (which showed the characters reaction at the best angle possible)

I have also been making a pic collage of Ricky Baker and uncle Hec.

 I  put pictures of them in the middle and adjectives about them on the outside.

Science

Aim: To look at the different growing conditions and how these affect the growth of seeds.



Method:

We worked in groups of 4
Potting mixed was put into cups.
The cups were planted with radish seeds.
Each cup had different growing conditions
Cup 1 - normal
Cup 2 - red cellophane
Cup 3 - overwatered
Cup 4  - underwatered or green cellophane

The plants grew in their cups for 10 days before they were measured.

Findings:

Plant growing condition	Height after 10 days (mm)
Normal	50mm
Green cellophane	0
Red cellophane	0
Overwater	50mm

The normal seedling was planted in normal potting mix and grew to a height of _________mm.

The green cellophane seedling was planted in normal potting mix, covered in green cellophane and watered. It grew to a height of ________mm. The red cellophane seedling was planted in normal potting mix............. to a height of ___________mm. The overwatered seedling was planted in normal potting mix, the water could not drain out the bottom of the pot and it grew to a height of ______mm.

Conclusion:

From the pictures and evidence, we can conclude that:

therefore the seedling with normal water conditions grew to a height of  50 mm.

Observation: when we completed the experiment I observed the dark purple go round in a circle going from bottom to top

Why it happened: hot particles spread more causing them to rise up

What i learned: Volcanic eruptions spark lightning, All volcanos in one area are all linked together through cave systems'

Today I read articles on Stuff (again)
It was actually really interesting, I read a number of articles but the one that stuck out to me the most was the article talking about the USA and North Korea scandal. Apparently, Donald Trump is going to meet with Kim Jong-un in Singapore for talks of world peace and abolishing Nk's nuclear program.

I think this is a great breakthrough for talks of world peace and id like to see this interview end with a positive outcome.

Today in English I was reading an article on stuff about the bases in Antarctica, It was very interesting because it talked about the huge amounts of radiation that the bases had and men who got cancer that served there.
 This is really interesting because you never hear about anything happening in Antarctica because it is such an isolated place.

Dilution Series

Explanation of dilution

Science- key words

soluble- Can disolve

insoluble- cant disolve 

solvent- the liquid that the solute is disolving into

 

solute-  a solid that can disolve 

solution- the mixture of the solute and the solvent 

Filtering water / science

The goal of the experiment - To filter water with simple items.
equipment:   bottle, 2 plastic bottles, paper towels, string and cotton balls





what we noticed- the water was still a bit murky so we are going to re filter it again till its clear.

what we changed- we loosened the rope to make the water drain faster.

What we should've done: we shouldn't  of put the cotton balls in it because it soaked up some of the murky water.

Conclusion, Our filter ended up working very well we ended up filtering all of the sand and mud but the water turned yellow.
